Dr. Navid Farahmand is a double board-certified anesthesiologist with extensive subspecialty training and more than 10 years of clinical experience in interventional pain management. His focus is on the non-operative treatment of the various spinal conditions that exist and the pain and disability they cause. If an individual can be prevented from undergoing surgery, Dr. Farahmand will find the way.
Dr. Farahmand is a native Los Angelino. He graduated from UCLA summa cum laude and earned his medical degree from UC San Diego in 2004. His initial interest in the brain and spinal cord and our perception of pain germinated from meeting individuals suffering pain from an amputated limb, commonly known as phantom limb pain. During his three years of training in anesthesia in Morgantown, West Virginia, Dr. Farahmand was identified by the senior faculty as particularly skilled in the evaluation and outpatient treatment of spinal disorders that required precise needle placement in order to achieve successful outcomes. From there, he pursued further subspecialty training in this arena at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, one of the most premier pain management fellowships in the country. Over the course of his year at the university, he helped publish several academic articles and was invited to give regional talks on the topic of phantom limb pain, an area where he remains an expert and gained considerable experience in treating a broad spectrum of disorders ranging from common arthritic conditions to malignant, terminal metastatic cancers.
After two highly successful years in a busy private practice setting in Utah, Dr. Farahmand chose to return to his roots in Southern California where he has established himself as a highly effective interventional pain management specialist. He takes great pride in relieving individuals’ pain with little to no downtime and returning his patients to the normal, active lifestyles they were previously accustomed to. Dr. Farahmand works in close concert with other specialists including physical therapists and spine surgeons to coordinate care and design a tailored, individualized program to meet each patient’s unique needs. Through this multi-disciplinary approach, Dr. Farahmand looks forward to bringing his unique and robust skillset to the patients of Achieve Brain and Spine to help them achieve their goals.
